LICENSING UPDATE

Following some recent relaxations of the licenses for bird gatherings we are now able to allow Quail and other poultry type birds to be brought to Cambridge Bird Sale. 
This is effective immediately so will apply to our forthcoming sale on Sunday 26th July. 

There are now two separate general licenses, both of which we have: 

1.    EXD 178(AI) Poultry
General licence to arrange a fair, market, show, exhibition or other gathering involving the collecting together of poultry in England.

Under this licence you are permitted to bring the following types of birds & eggs: 
✅ WATER-FOWL (ANSERIFORMES) EG DUCKS, GEESE & SWANS. 🦆
✅ LAND-FOWL (GALLIFORMES) EG QUAIL, PHEASANTS, PARTRIDGES, CHICKENS & GUINEA FOWL. 🐓
✅ HATCHING EGGS (FERTILE EGGS PRODUCED BY CAPTIVE OR DOMESTIC BIRDS SPECIFICALLY INTENDED FOR INCUBATION). 🪺

2.    EXD 178(AI) Captive Birds
General licence to arrange a fair, market, show, exhibition or other gathering involving the collecting together of other captive birds in England.

Under this licence you are permitted to bring the following types of birds: 
✅ PERCHING BIRDS (PASSERIFORMES) EG FINCH-LIKE, CANARIES & SOFTBILLS. 🐦‍⬛
✅ PARROT-LIKE/HOOKBILLS (PSITTACIFORMES) EG BUDGIES, LOVEBIRDS, PARAKEETS & PARROTS. 🦜
✅ DOVES & PIGEONS (COLUMBIFORMES) EG DIAMOND DOVES, FRUIT PIGEONS, GROUND DOVES, FANCY PIGEONS & RACING PIGEONS. 🕊️
✅ BIRDS OF PREY / RAPTORS EG FALCONS, HAWKS & EAGLES, KITES, OSPREYS & CARACARAS. 🦅

❗️Make the most of it; it is more than likely that the poultry licence will be withdrawn again in the autumn and winter if the risks of Avian Influenza increase, as is the norm now at that time of year❗️
