NEW: ❗️JANUARY SALE CANCELLED❗️
We are sorry to inform you that the Cambridge Bird Sale due to take place on Sunday 25th January is now CANCELLED due to new APHA licensing regulations which came into effect on 8th December.
We applied for this new licence in December and we were given provisional approval on 9th January. However, it appears all bird gatherings are currently being assessed as ‘high risk’, meaning there are conditions on this licence which means it is not viable for us to go ahead at this time.
One of these conditions prevents the exchange of stock, meaning all birds must return to their ‘premises of origin’ after the event. In effect, the new licence is only of any use to bird shows and not to sales or auctions.
The full text is as follows:
‘The licensee must ensure that no sales take place at the gathering, and that any bird brought to the gathering is brought there for the sole purpose of showing or exhibiting the bird. All birds must return to their premises of origin following the gathering.’
We are already in the process of applying for the licence for our spring sale in March. Providing the national bird-flu situation has subsided enough by then it should allow us to obtain the licence without the restrictions currently attached to it.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BOOKED FOR THE JANUARY SALE, YOUR BOOKING WILL AUTOMATICALLY ROLL OVER TO THE FOLLOWING SALE ON SUNDAY 29th MARCH.
IF YOU WOULD PREFER A REFUND INSTEAD, PLEASE CONTACT US AND WE WILL ISSUE YOU WITH ONE.
